I Finally Joined Myspace

April 28, 2006

Following my own advice from the previous post, I joined the world’s largest social networking site.  My girlfriend, my sister, and 25% of the rest of the world are already avid members.  They have some cool looking filmmaker forums that I would like to post some stuff in if I ever get any free time, which is never.

URL of Solomon Rothman’s myspace account: http://www.myspace.com/solomonrothman

Currently my about me sections contains an embedded video of the Boy Who Never Slept Trailer, but I did put some original photos there.  I didn’t want to just replicate content from this site, so I posted some still frames from the movie Boy Who Never Slept and a few photos of me and aurora that aren’t available anywhere else.

I’ll keep you posted on how my experience with myspace turns out.

Basic Steps for Promoting a Video Online

April 28, 2006

I think one of the more interesting SEO and Internet Marketing topics to discuss would be the basic steps to optimize promote a video clip.  These are the EXACT same steps I’m currently going through to let the world know about my movie trailer, and similar to how I’ll let the world know when I release the free full length movie.  As I have more time I’ll go through a large portion of the steps.

Get the video Online and reachable by as wide an audience as possible.

Don’t WAIT Any Longer Promote Your Favorites With Social Bookmarking

April 24, 2006

If you haven’t tried it yet, now is the time. Almost every internet surfer uses bookmarks or favorites to keep tract of the websites they find most useful and would like to revisit. It’s easy, fast and works relatively effectively, but not without limitations

Limitations of conventional bookmaking.

  1. Difficult to browse bookmarks on different computer systems
  2. No quick way to share or compare your bookmarks with other users

Have you ever wondered what websites other users are actually bookmarking? You can browse the search engines, but they’ll give you a list of the most “relevant” sites according to whatever keywords you typed in, but that won’t necessarily be the greatest or most “popular” destination.

Associated Content: Get paid for Your Articles & Gain Links Too

April 23, 2006

Associated content is a website that allows anyone to submit articles for publication on their website. While there are a huge amount of websites that offer this service, associated content is the best website I’ve encountered for the following reasons.

  1. You actually get PAID for the articles you submit. I’ve been paid as much as $15 for a few of my articles and my girlfriend has been paid $30 for a few of hers. This isn’t a lot of money, but I didn’t write these for monetary compsation, that’s just a bonus, plus for the value of the LINKS they give you, it’s an excellent deal.
  2. Articles are actually human edited so not everything is accepted.
  3. They give every author a bio page with a pretty permanent url where you can add your own links and info. This is great for SEO promotion.
  4. They’re site receives a lot of traffic so your articles will actually get read. At the time of this post over 25,000 people have read my articles there. That’s a lot more then currently read this blog!
