Q. Who can I contact if I have a question about the website, entering contributions, or creating tasks?

You can contact support@moviepals.org.

Q.  What is MoviePals?

A.  MoviePals Entertainment is a leading online, collaborative film studio that creates, produces, and distributes original films made by mass collaboration. The company is currently based in Los Angeles, California and run by Collaborative Filmmaker Solomon Rothman and Software Engineer Brian Bentow.  By developing a new web-based platform, MoviePals.org will provide you with the opportunity to join, contribute, and share in the revenue of filmmaking projects.  The company’s mission is to revolutionize the way films are made by engaging creative individuals from all over the world and giving them the opportunity to participate in the artistic film-making process.

For more details, please see our Company History and Mission and Movement.

Q.  Who runs MoviePals?

A.  In a way, you do.  MoviePals Open Cinema is first and foremost a collaborative process, involving participants in the creative and production process like no other filmmaking organization in the world.  Everyone involved owns his/her own work and helps decide the direction of the project as a whole.  The team is currently lead by founders Chief Executive Officer Solomon Rothman and Chief Technical Officer Brian Bentow.

Q.  How do I get paid?

A.  MoviePals is run on a unique revenue sharing model whereby each participant enters the tasks he/she has completed on the project, which translates into revenue share points.  These points guarantee a share of the revenue from the selling of sponsorships, merchandise, video clips, etc in the project.  The exact amount of revenue for a project is determined by its popularity and sales.  See the Revenue Share and License Agreement page for more details.

Q.  How do I contribute and earn Revenue Share points?

A.  MoviePals is a collaborative organization in every sense of the word.  Basically, for anything you’re interested in (acting, directing, producing, videography, editing, sound, music, design), we have a place for talented and motivated people to get started and participate.  To find out how you can get involved, please see the Contribute page

Q. Do I have to be SAG/DGA/SGA/Other union to participate?

A.  No.  You can be union or non-union.  Open Cinema means open to everyone, regardless of guild status

Q. How do I get paid and when?

A.  Payment is made every quarter via Paypal online based on the revenue generated and tasks performed.  See the Revenue Share and License Agreement for more details.

Q.  Can I work on other projects at the same time?

A.  Of course. We don't try to own or control people.

Q.  Do I have to pay to participate?

A.  Absoultely not.  MoviePals does not believe in paying for the opportunity to work.  You are only responsible for your own personal expenses (i.e. transportation).  Any equipment or locations contributed earns you more revenue points.

Q.  How do I audition?

A.  Our audition notices will be posted in the Events for Actors page.

Q.  How do I stay informed?

A.  The best way to stay informed is to Join the Mob!  Not only will you receive updates, but you can help drive the direction of Mob Mentality, not to mention the fact that you can help support Open Cinema by purchasing some great MoviePals merchandise!

Q.  I have an idea. Can I get it going using the MoviePals platform and team?

A.  We're always interested in hearing more ideas.  If you have a good one, send it to us via the Contact page.

Q.  What can I do with the scripts and other content that I contribute?

A.  MoviePals philosophy is that you own the content you create.  That means that you may reuse content that you create without any need for a release from us.  For instance, if you write a piece of music for a MoviePals project, you could put the original audio on itunes, sell it, and get 100% of the profits outside of MoviePals, as long as it is entirely your own creation.

Q.  What do I get by working with MoviePals?

A.  Among other things, you gain experience, new skills, networking opportunities with other filmmakers and creative people, and of course the possibility of making money.

Q.  What are the current projects?

A.  Current we are producing Mob Mentality, the world's first crowd-driven series!  Watch the trailer here!
